Clean Eating, Where Women Cook & Plans…

Hi there!  I wanted to thank you all for your lovely comments and emails on our master bedroom and kitchen. I also wanted to answer some of the questions. This is a quick post. We are off to Disneyland tomorrow!

First off, I wanted to share some of my favorite cooking magazines and a great cook book .My husband and I are into fitness and now Clean Eating.  We want to set a good example for the little ones. I wanted to share this amazing cookbook with great recipes by Tosca Reno’s Eat Clean.

We also have a subscription to Clean Eating magazine, love the recipes.  I have been trying out recipes and will let you know which ones we like best.

Another favorite cooking magazine is Where Women Cook!  There are amazing chefs, recipe idea’s and adorable kitchens. Fifi is in this latest issue. She looks so lovely in her kitchen.

The paint color I use throughout the common areas of the house is White Fever by Dunn Edwards (for now lol). The kitchen chandelier is a Rachel Ashwell find, I did not distress it myself.  That is the way I bought it. The duvet cover on the bed is by Pom Pom.  I found the herb box in the kitchen at a flea market. I did not distress that either. I found it that way. The backsplash on the back kitchen counters are white subway tiles. I went most of the way up the wall. On the island is Carrera Marble.  We also did half a wall in one of our bathroom using subway tiles. I haven’t shown that bathroom yet. I will try to soon. I hope I got most of the questions.  Thank you for asking.

I did get a lot of positive yes feed back on painting the floors white.  Most everyone agrees. This is our dilemma though.  This home is our 3-5 year plan.  My husband and I have moved and flipped 11 homes in our 10 years together. But, when you have a family priorities change when looking for a home to raise them in. We have been going to open house’s the last few months to get an idea of the area in which we want to live and find our dream home to finally settle in..  I already have my dream home in mind, finding it in the perfect area is the trick.  We have narrowed it down to 3 different locations. The school district being top priority.

Dilemma…We want to possibly keep this house and rent it out, or possibly sell it. Problem is do you think painting the floors white will be a distraction to renters or buyers???

In debate….

One last thing check out Jennifer Rizzo’s gorgeous new Urban Journey Collection Line…

Amazing talent!

Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. LOVE your Urban Collection Journey e-magazine! So well done!!
I think white floors might be hard for resell but I've never done it so I don't know. I know most walls are better left white as color can be distracting to potential sellers, and the majority of people out there don't seem to be "hip" to cool things like painted floors or chippy charm. Most people would say "why are you buying that thing- the paint is all peeling off!" ;-) Sometimes that works in our favor though, right??
I am still reeling and impressed that you and your hubby have flipped 11 houses in 10 years. Yowsa! You two are the dynamic duo!

  6. I would leave the floors as is. Some people may not like the look of white floors. Plus, they may wind up covering them with carpet anyway. Good luck house hunting!

  7. Hi Lulu....here's my take on your floors....
if you rent it out, no animals allowed - that will keep your floors - also, if you paint them white, and rent it soon, then you will seem up to date on current interior decorating trends and to me, your area, that would be appealing!

If you don't paint them white, then you for one, don't ahve to do the work, and people won't know that you wanted to paint them white, and won't care

    Either way, it's a win-win

(that really didn't help did it)

I too miss our chats - let's catch up Monday okay?

p.s. how exciting you are looking for a home! I love that process!!

  8. Hi LuLu, first of all I am a huge fan of painted floors--especially white and especially in the coastal areas, yum yum... yet, I would leave the floors "as is" since this will leave the new owner with the choice. Painting floors would be difficult to "undo" so If you are not going to be there to enjoy them there is no point to painting them. Have a great vacation.....

  10. If I were looking for a house and found one with white painted floors I would be thrilled beyond comprehension, but I may be an exception. It's probably best not to paint them...POO!

  15. We had the same big dilemma on this side of the world... We are in NZ and our floors were a complete dark eyesore!!! But painting the floors white we knew we would be putting off potential buyers (yep, this is a little investment do up), so we decided to whitewash everything... It was HARD work but the result is totally worth it and keeps the wood lovers happy cause you still see the veins through the wash!

  19. Great redo, Lu!

I had a house with white floors, and we stripped and refinished the natural wood downstairs ourselves for $200. The house sold. Only shabby chic people 'get it'.

Good luck & congrats on flipping 11 houses, I got sick of it after only 2!!!
